Water parks in the Algarve
In the Algarve you can find several water parks. But what makes them different? And which one is the best to go to? In this article you can read all about the different water parks in the Algarve.
Aqualand
Aqualand is located in Alcantarilha. One of their highlights is the Kamikaze, which is the highest water slide in Portugal (36 metres). You won’t be able to find such a high water slide in any of the other parks. Another unique slide is the Banzai Boggan, in which you slide down super fast on a fibre glass bodyboard from a height of 23 metres. Additionally, they have many other water slides and a part for small kids, but they are more or less comparable to what you can find in the other water parks of the Algarve. The regular entrance fee is € 29.
Aquashow
Aquashow is located in Quarteira. One of their highlights is a 740 metre fun ride in the watercoaster: a rollercoaster in the water. It is a lot of fun. Another highlight is the Free Fall slide, which is quite long (129 metres) and high (32 metres). Other unique slides are the River Slide, the White Fall and the Twin Space Shuttle. In addition they have several animal shows. The rest of the water park is more or less comparable to the others. The regular entrance fee is € 29.
Slide & Splash
Slide & Splash is located near Lagoa. One of its highlights is the Black Hole, a water slide so dark that you won’t know when you are turning left or right. Other highlights are the Big Wave, the Disco River and the Kamikaze. In addition, there are also some animal shows. The rest of the water park is quite comparable to the others. The regular entrance fee is € 27, so slightly cheaper than other water parks.
Zoomarine
Zoomarine is located in Guia. This family park is focused around marine life. There are plenty of animal shows, with dolphins, seals, sea lions and more. All shows are fun to watch and every show also has an educational element in it. If you want, you can even swim with the dolphins yourself for an extra price. In addition to the shows, Zoomarine also has a water park with many slides. Compared to the other water parks in the Algarve, these slides are nothing crazy. They are fun nonetheless. Furthermore, Zoomarine has other amusements, such as the pirate ship and the giant wheel. That is something the other family parks don’t have. The regular entrance fee is € 29.
Comparing the different water parks in the Algarve
All of the 4 water parks are different. You can say that Aqualand, Aquashow and Slide & Splash are somewhat comparable, albeit they each have some unique slides that are the highlight of the park. Aqualand is the only one without animal shows. Slide & Splash is the cheapest of all. On the other hand, Zoomarine is kind of a whole different concept, more focused around animal shows and amusement, with some elements of a water park as well. The truth is that, while they all have some differences, you can have a good day out in any of those family parks.
To sum up, you can see the differences between the water parks in the Algarve in the table below.
