Beaches in Albufeira you should visit
Once a fisherman’s village, Albufeira has now turned into a mainstream tourist destination. There is plenty to do in Albufeira, and one of those things is to visit its beaches. With around 30 kilometres of coastline, Albufeira has a great variety of beaches. Actually, Albufeira is the town in the Algarve with the most Blue Flag beaches. Most of the beaches near Albufeira can get quite crowded, but there are some beaches that are more quiet. Below you can find our selection of some of the best Albufeira beaches.
Praia da Coelha
Praia da Coelha is a small beach a couple of kilometres west of the town of Albufeira. The beach has some hidden coves and is great for collecting shells. Less crowded than the urban beaches in Albufeira.
Praia da Falésia
Praia da Falésia is one of the most beautiful beaches of Albufeira and actually the entire Algarve. This beach stretches for 6 kilometres and is backed by impressive rock formations in the west. Most tourists that come here for the first time have never seen anything like it. The more you walk to the east, the lower the cliffs become. This beach is truly amazing and visiting this beach is highly recommended during any holiday in the Algarve.
Praia da Galé
Praia da Galé is located a couple of kilometres west of Albufeira. However, compared to the crowded town beaches of the town, this beach has a remote feel to it. You will see plenty of rock formations in strange shapes and you can also find fossils in the rocks. Great beach to escape the huge crowds, while still being close to Albufeira.
Praia da Oura
Praia da Oura is the number 1 party beach of the Algarve. Nearby you can find a crazy nightlife scene, which lasts until early morning. The beach is mainly visited by young people, who like to tan during the day and go out at night. If you like to party, come and explore this beach.
Praia da Rocha Baixinha
Praia da Rocha Baixinha is the easternmost beach of Albufeira, with white sand and plenty of entertainment. The beach bars here host several parties during summer. From the beach you can see Vilamoura, which is just east of the beach.
Praia de Santa Eulália
Praia de Santa Eulália is one of the greenest beaches in the area. Backed by a combination of pine gardens and rock formations, this beach will surely impress you. Also this beach is located a couple of kilometres outside the town of Albufeira, which makes it less crowded than many other Albufeira beaches.
Praia de São Rafael
Praia de São Rafael is an amazing beach, backed by beautiful rock formations. Some of the rock formations have quite strange shapes. The beach is located outside the town of Albufeira, but it can still be quite crowded in the summer. Great beach overall.
Praia do Castelo
Praia do Castelo is a small beach a couple of kilometres west of Albufeira town. There are many hidden coves to discover around this beach. Moreover, you can go for a wonderful cliff walk and admire the natural surroundings of the beach.
Praia do Evaristo
Praia do Evaristo is a beach a couple of kilometres west of Albufeira. It has plenty of rocks and hidden coves, which are fun to discover. In summer, this beach is often visited by famous Portuguese people.
Praia do Inatel
Praia do Inatel is named after the Inatel hotel, which sits right on the beach. The beach is very close to the old town of Albufeira. Although it usually is quite crowded, it is less crowded than the town beaches of Túnel and Pescadores. It is visited a lot by guests from the Inatel hotel and other hotels nearby. Go here if you want more space, but want to stay close to the old town.
Praia do Túnel
Praia do Túnel is one of the two beaches in front of the old town of Albufeira. Therefore it usually is very crowded, especially in the summer. However, you can find plenty of facilities nearby. If you are staying near the old town and want convenience, this is a great beach to visit.
Praia dos Alemães
Praia dos Alemães is one the most eastern one of the urban beaches near Albufeira town. Even though the beach is very popular in summer months, it is slightly less crowded than on the other Albufeira town beaches.
Praia dos Arrifes
Praia dos Arrifes is the smallest beach in Albufeira. Due to its small size, it feels crowded very quickly. Still, it is a good beach to sunbathe and enjoy your holiday. The beach is characterized by several big rock formations in the water.
Praia dos Aveiros
Praia dos Aveiros is a small beach, between Praia dos Alemães and Praia da Oura. While it is not so far from the town centre of Albufeira, it is more quiet than any other beach nearby. If you seek some privacy, while still being close to the urban area of Albufeira, this beach is a great choice.
Praia dos Olhos de Água
Praia dos Olhos de Água is known for its natural freshwater springs that you can find on the beach. Literally, Olhos de Água means eyes of water, which refers to the freshwater springs. You can find families here and it is great as a day trip destination.
Praia dos Pescadores
Praia dos Pescadores is the other beach in front of the old town of Albufeira. There are usually a lot of people on the beach and therefore it is very lively, also at night. Make sure to check the view over this beach from the Pau da Bandeira viewpoint.
Praia dos Salgados
Praia dos Salgados is the most western beach in the municipality of Albufeira. Behind the beach is a big lagoon, where you can spot many birds. The combination of nature and beach makes this a great place to visit.
