Oktoberfest in the Algarve
You don’t need to be in Germany to celebrate Oktoberfest. This wonderful beer fest has found its way to the Algarve. Indeed, you can celebrate Oktoberfest right in the sunny Algarve. Although this version of Oktoberfest is much smaller than the original, it is a lot of fun nevertheless. In fact, this festival in the Algarve has grown a lot in popularity in the last couple of years. Visiting Oktoberfest in Portugal is a great thing to do with a group of friends. Families are of course also welcome and there is even a special children’s play area. Basically, you can drink beer while the kids are enjoying themselves in the garden.
What to expect
Expect a lot of German beer. In addition, there are several Bavarian delicacies to enjoy, including handmade sausages, pretzels, sauerkraut, schnitzel, herring, potato salad, knuckle of pork and apple strudel. There is an on-site butcher, who prepares the meat and makes sure that it has the highest quality. You can enjoy the beer and food at long wooden tables, just like in the original Oktoberfest. There will be about 700 people enjoying the event per night. Even though the event is in the Algarve, you can also expect the staff to be dressed in drindl and lederhosen, the traditional German costumes. The staff can also explain everything about the different types of food and the beer. There is a band from Germany playing live music. The atmosphere during the event is very relaxed.
