The beach
Praia dos Beijinhos is a small beach in a rocky bay backed by cliffs, which shelter the beach. In Portuguese, a beijinho means a little kiss. Praia dos Beijinhos thus translates as beach of the little kisses. This name comes from the large number of small shells on the beach, that are also called beijinhos. The name of this beach makes it unique. Praia dos Beijinhos is located west of Praia do Vale do Olival and east of Praia dos Tremoços. It is actually located right next to the five star luxury resort Vila Vita Parc.
You can see many rocks on and around the beach, as well as plenty of sea birds. There is also a lot of vegetation. For example, there is a nice walking trail from Praia do Vale do Olival towards Beijinhos beach, taking you through a green environment full of different plants. Along this route you will have a spectacular view over the area, so this walk is highly recommended.
If you go on the cliffs on the west side of the beach, you can actually see Armação de Pêra and its beach.
On the east side of Praia dos Beijinhos you can find a small private section of the beach, just around the corner.
Praia dos Beijinhos itself is quiet and peaceful. There are not a lot of people visiting here. If you would like some privacy on the beach, this is a good beach to visit. Most of the people on the beach are tourists of nearby hotels. Families usually love this beach, since there are small lagoons at low tide. Children often love to explore these pools. Couples also love Praia dos Beijinhos. They come to visit because of the romantic name, and then discover that the beach is quite romantic too.
