Beaches in Lagoa you should visit
The beaches around Lagoa are known to be some of the best of the Algarve. However, you will need a car to go to most of these beaches. Public transport does not go to all beaches and the bus times can be irregular. Compared to other beaches in the Algarve, the beaches near Lagoa are visited by less people and are thus relatively quiet. This is because they are not located near a town (except Carvoeiro Beach). Below you can find our selection of some of the best Lagoa beaches you should visit.
Praia da Angrinha
Praia da Angrinha is the closest beach to the town of Ferragudo. It is a relatively quiet beach that mostly attracts locals. It is famous for having a fort (Fort of São João do Arade) right on the beach.
Praia da Corredoura
Praia da Corredoura is a deserted beach between Praia de Benagil and Praia da Marinha. The beach is only accessible from the sea, which makes that this beach is almost always empty. If you would like some privacy on the beach, this is the number 1 choice.
Praia da Cova Redonda
Praia da Cova Redonda is a nice beach east of Senhora da Rocha and west of Armação de Pêra. Near the beach you can find many holiday houses and resort, which makes this a popular beach among families in summer.
Praia da Marinha
Praia da Marinha is perhaps the most famous beach of the Algarve. You can see the beach in many advertisements for the region. It is sometimes called the most beautiful beach of Portugal. The most unique thing about this beach is the double arched rock, which has the shape of the letter M. Moreover, there are several beautiful walking trails surrounding the beach. Highly recommended.
Praia de Albandeira
Praia de Albandeira is a beautiful beach, which is known for its arch rock in the water. From Albandeira beach you can actually swim around the rock and underneath this arch. You will then end up on another small beach. In general, the water near this beach is very good for swimming, diving and snorkeling. While Praia de Albandeira is relatively unknown (compared to for example Praia da Marinha), its beauty will make sure you won’t forget this beach.
Praia de Benagil
Praia de Benagil is a popular beach located in the small village of Benagil. The most famous thing about this beach is its proximity to a cave known as Algar de Benagil. This is probably the most famous cave of the Algarve. You can also see it on many postcards and advertisements for the region. From the beach you have several options to reach the cave, but a visit to Algar de Benagil is highly recommended.
Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha
Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha is known for being located right next to the promontory of Nossa Senhora da Rocha, which has a unique chapel on top of it. It is not a big beach, but the surroundings are really beautiful. You will probably also see many fishing boats around here, which gives the beach its character.
Praia de Vale Centeanes
Praia de Vale Centeanes is a beautiful beach east of Carvoeiro. There is plenty to discover, both in hidden caves as underwater, since the beach is great for snorkelling and diving.
Praia de Vale Covo
Praia de Vale Covo is a small beach east of Carvoeiro. It is famous for a huge cave located right next to the beach. You can visit this cave, which is a fabulous adventure.
Praia do Vale do Olival

Praia dos Beijinhos is a small beach west of Praia do Vale do Olival. Literally, the name means the beach of little kisses, which suggests this is a romantic beach.
Praia dos Caneiros
Praia dos Caneiros is a beach south of Ferragudo. From the beach you can see the lighthouse of Ponta do Altar, as well as a big rock in the ocean. The beach is quite popular in summer and the restaurant on-site even hosts regular summer parties.
